Success and Money

Success and money are NOT the same thing.

No matter what the advertisers try to tell you, “bigger, better, faster and newer” are NOT the measures of success.

There are a lot of messages out there to convince you to buy their products – that what they offer will make your life better. Take heed. Their main goal is probably not your self-interest.

Jack Bogle, the founder of Vanguard, said:

“Success cannot be measured solely—or even primarily— in monetary terms, nor in terms of the amount of power one may exercise over others, nor in the illusory fame of inevitable transitory public notice. But, it can be measured in our contributions to building a better world, in helping our fellow man, and in raising children who themselves become loving human beings and good citizens. Success, in short, can be measured not in what we attain for ourselves, but in what we contribute to our society.”

Each of us gets to define what success is for us. Ponder the thoughts above as you figure it our for yourself!
