One of Purposeful Financial and Legacy Planning's key values is to support the local community. In support of that value, we will highlight a Northern Colorado charity each quarter. Additionally, we support that charity with a donation.

This quarter we are highlighting Slammin' Famine, the local Northern Colorado mobile packing event for Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), a Christian nonprofit organization dedicated to providing nutritious meals to malnourished children worldwide. Founded in 1987, FMSC has grown into a powerful force against global hunger. They believe that "to a starving child, hope can only begin with a reliable source of nutritious food."

The organization's approach is simple yet effective. Donors fund the ingredients, and volunteers hand-pack scientifically formulated meals called MannaPacks designed to reverse and prevent malnutrition. These meals, consisting of rice, soy, dried vegetables, and a nutrient-rich powder blend, are then distributed to partners in over 110 countries.

What sets FMSC apart is its commitment to community involvement. The organization hosts packing events where individuals, families, and groups can directly contribute to the cause. Children ages 5 and up are also able to participate with an adult. This hands-on approach not only produces millions of meals annually but also raises awareness about global hunger.

FMSC's impact is significant, with over 4 billion meals provided since its inception. By focusing on nutrition and engaging volunteers, Feed My Starving Children continues to make strides in the fight against childhood hunger.

For more information on how you can donate, volunteer, or get involved with their mission, visit the FMSC website.
