I recently realized that I am, and have been for quite a while, a believer in longtermism, but I just didn't know what to call it.
I believe that what we do now should be guided, at least in part, by the belief that the world of the future is important and can be (will be) affected by what we do or don't do. But until recently, I didn't know that way of thinking had a name - Longtermism. According to the website, longtermism.com, longtermism is the view that positively influencing the long-term future is a key moral priority of our time. There is a significant global movement taking place in support of this concept, and I find it fascinating and motivating. I will be sharing more about this idea in future blogs.
